D. James Tagg (Jamie) has helped clients achieve and maintain high quality audio for over 20 years. His recordings have received multiple internationally competitive awards from the Audio Engineering Society, dozens of broadcasts on NPR and the BBC, chart-topping ratings on Billboard, iTunes, and Amazon, and several GRAMMY® nominations, stemming from work with clients in a wide variety of styles and venues across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Jamie currently combines his passions for audio production, research, and teaching as Assistant Professor of Audio Engineering and Sound Production at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
Jamie has engineered projects with organizations and individuals such as Seraphic Fire, Joshua Bell, Aspen Music Festival, The Banff Centre for the Arts, The Gregg Smith Singers, Jo-Michael Scheibe, the Avalon, Cassatt, Danish, and Takacs String Quartets, among many others. His albums have been released through Albany Records, Hungaroton, NAXOS International, Sono Luminus, and SFM Inc. He has also pioneered the Stereo Technique for Augmented Ambience Gradient or “STAAG,” as well as developed signal processing algorithms employed in dbx-tv® Total SurroundTM and Advanced SurroundTM technologies found in over half a billion installations around the world.
In addition to his production and research work, Jamie is also a member of the Audio Engineering Society, the Acoustic Society of America, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, and Chorus America.
