Andrea Toyias is the Senior Casting & Voice Director at Blizzard Entertainment where she has headed the VO department since its inception ten years ago. She has enjoyed bringing a wide-range of characters to life in World of WarCraft, Diablo, StarCraft, Hearthstone and most recently, Blizzard's newest exciting title, Overwatch.
Andrea has been involved with video games for over 15 years. Her early years were spent at Vivendi Games where she first developed her love and passion for voice acting as a Dialogue Editor and later as a Recording Engineer. She worked with hundreds of actors on innumerable games of every genre, ranging from the fun and entertaining Spyro to the dark and ominous Chronicles of Riddick. Since transitioning to Blizzard, casting and directing ghouls, goblins, multi-headed demons, space aliens and super heroes are her specialty.
Andrea currently divides her time between the Blizzard campus and Blizzard’s recording studio. While on campus, Andrea is an active member of each dev team as she works with them from beginning to end on the voiceover pipeline. She is present during early brainstorming meetings in order to deep dive into each project. From there, she collaborates with the game team on the characters they are seeking and then searches the globe to bring their vision to life.
It is when at the studio that all of Andrea’s extensive work with each game team really comes to life. She spends countless hours, days and weeks working with writers and actors as a cohesive team so that a truth and an honesty can be delivered in every line. Characters are fleshed out, stories and sub-text are revealed and vocal delivery experiments of every kind are pursued.
Andrea's goal, no matter the character and no matter the project, is to find a truth and believability in every line and in every performance.
