Born in Venezuela of German and Argentinian descent, Andres Levin is a Film Producer/Composer and Grammy winning music producer with studios based in New York City and Havana
Andres is the founder and leader of highly-influential, and Grammy nominated afro-cuban powerhouse band “Yerba Buena” which gave a start to multiple well-known music figures, and toured extensively with Dave Matthews Band.” With an impressive 16 nominations to his credit, Levin secured his first Grammy award for his production of Lin Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights” cast album. His album production and composer credits also include collaborations with artists such as: John Legend, Natalie Merchant, Miguel Bose, Aterciopelados, Orishas, David Byrne, Caetano Veloso, D’angelo, Julieta Venegas and Tina Turner.
As composer and music supervisor in film, Andres has co-penned the theme song for, and supervised music for the Netflix series “4 Seasons in Havana” (2017). He has also written songs for US Latin Films “Latin Lover” (2017), “Overboard” (End title song – 2018), “El Cantante” (starring Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez/2006), and ranging back to multiple songs on “Dirty Dancing-Havana Nights” (2004). As well as working on TV shows Enoutage, Heroes, Third-watch and many more.
His advertising credits include, Target (with Natalia Lafourcade), Verizon (Campaign with Prince Royce-Winner of a Latin Billboard marketing award), Heineken, Khols (Campaign with Mark Anthony and J-Lo), Pepsi.
Levin’s also frequently hosts a who’s who of international musicians and other cultural figures visiting Cuba, has been behind the local production of numerous feature films like Fast and Furious 8 – “The Fate of the Furious” (Universal-2017) as well as the organization of various large scale events such as TEDxHabana (2014/2015)
Continuing his mission to invoke change, Levin has also built a bridge between the entertainment industry and philanthropy with his venture, Music Has No Enemies. Found by Levin in 2008, the organization aims to usher the entertainment industry in a new direction: creating visual and musical content that helps develop the mission of non-profits and social causes. With Music Has No Enemies, Levin has partnered with Amnesty International, The Obama Foundation, Rainforest Alliance, Orphaned Starfish Foundation, amongst others.
Additionally, Andres has created, curated and/or produced events for BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), the first Obama Inauguration (Washington DC), Celebrate Brooklyn (at Prospect Park), River Rocks (Hudson River Park, NYC), Hollywood Bowl (LA), Woodstock 40the Anniversary (New York 2009), Havana Biennial (2012), and many more.
