Lauren Ward

Lauren Ward is a Postgraduate Researcher in broadcast accessibility at the Acoustics Research Centre, University of Salford, UK and an intern at BBC R&D. She has a B.Eng with First Class Honours (2014) and a B.Phil (2015) from the University of Tasmania, Australia. She is a General Sir John Monash Scholar and the 2018 recipient of the IET Leslie H Paddle Scholarship. Lauren currently researches object-based audio methods for improving intelligibility of broadcast sound for hard of hearing listeners. Previously Lauren has worked with the CSIRO developing speech recognition technology for the assessment of speech disorders in children. Her research interests also include science communication and community engagement with STEM.
