Dr. Mathur has 35 years experience in the areas of acoustics, acoustic meta materials, structural acoustics, loudspeakers/audio engineering, active noise control, composite structures, aircraft engine liners, signal processing, vibrations and damping, and systems engineering. Recently, Gopal worked on consulting projects with Ingersoll-Rand, Trane, Honeywell, NASA, AMM Inc. and Virginia Tech. Earlier, he worked at the Boeing Company in the Acoustics Research group since 1988. Dr. Mathur has been recognized by national and international leaders in the field of structural acoustics, active and passive noise control technology, as a leading industry resource representing the Boeing Company. Gopal held the position of Boeing Technical Fellow, a distinguished technical position within the Boeing Company. He worked on diverse R&D projects related to aerospace vehicles such as military aircraft, rotorcraft, and space vehicles, in addition to commercial aircraft. He has received two NASA Public Service Group Achievement Awards; which is the highest award NASA gives every year to an industry team for outstanding performance. He has presented/published over 95 research papers including 12 invited papers, at national and international conferences. He has been in the organizing and scientific committee of international conferences and chaired sessions at several conferences. Gopal has been awarded 17 US patents, related to acoustics, audio, active and passive noise control, by the US Patent and Trademark Office. He has served as reviewer for several research journals. Dr. Mathur served a 4-year elected term (2005-2009) as a Director on the Board of Directors of International Institute of Acoustics and Vibrations (IIAV).
