Andrea Genovese is a Ph.D. candidate and AES member under the supervision of Dr. Agnieszka Roginska at MARL's Immersive Audio research group. His main academic interests lie in the fields of psychoacoustics, signal processing, and data analysis of spatial audio applied to the context of Virtual Reality. Current research looks at non-invasive HRTF individualization, flexible VR acoustic rendering, and ecological user-profiling in relation to audio. Andrea is a co-manager of the Immersive Audio Interest Group, a society of students with an extra-curricular interest in recording and producing interactive music experiences for Virtual Reality reproduction.
Prior to joining MARL, Andrea earned a MEng degree in EE at the University of York UK, with a thesis on plausible binaural audio perception, and spent a year at Fraunhofer IIS in Erlangen, Germany, working on signal processing for efficient binaural audio real-time rendering.
