Dan Mortensen has owned and operated Dansound Inc., a sound reinforcement company, for 44 years in Seattle, WA. He specializes in the naturalistic reproduction of acoustic music, and for the last 36 years has primarily relied on various products from Meyer Sound to do so.
He has been married for 34 years and has two self-supporting adult children.
A long-time AES member and now Life Member, he has been eight-time Chair of the Pacific Northwest Section as well as Vice-Chair, Treasurer, or Committee member over the last 27 years.
He is clearly in a rut, except for the last four years has been learning how to edit video and has a small but growing variety of audio-related videos on his YouTube channel DansoundSeattle, including several relevant to this session.
And for the last five years, he has been the Spark Plug for the Friends of the 30th St. Studio, which is an organization he founded to remember and explore the history of CBS Records' wonderful studio where dozens if not hundreds and even thousands of classic songs and albums were recorded, as well as the work and history of a very large number of people who worked there, whose achievements we treasure today.
