Terri Winston is the Executive Director of Women’s Audio Mission (WAM), an award-winning recording engineer, music producer, former major label recording artist and tenured professor and director of the Sound Recording Arts Degree Program at City College of San Francisco. Winston’s recording career spans 25 years as a songwriter, composer, recording engineer, and music producer. She was signed as a recording artist, engineer and producer by Polygram, Warner/Chappell and BMG, and has shared the stage with such acts as P.J. Harvey, Pixies, Throwing Muses, Flaming Lips, Fugazi, Cake, and Third Eye Blind. She has worked as a producer/engineer with acclaimed artists such as Kronos Quartet, Angelique Kidjo, Lenny Kaye (Patti Smith Group), Greg Hawkes (The Cars) and MainMan whose roster also included David Bowie, John Mellencamp, Lou Reed, & Iggy Pop. She has received an ASCAP songwriting award, Boston Music Award and Bay Area Music Award and is a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammy’s). Winston is a seasoned educator with over 15 years of experience in the classroom and authoring curriculum, including Women’s Audio Mission’s SoundChannel.org which reaches over 6,700 students in 127 different countries. Winston is expert at creating curriculum that attracts girls to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) studies – WAM trains over 1,200 women and girls every year in STEM. Winston has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
