Per is presently occupied in three different - but connected - areas: 1) He's working as a Recording Engineer/Music Producer and a Mastering Engineer. He runs the record company Footprint Records, producing acoustic art music. 2) He's an invited speaker and tutor in fields such as Acoustics, Electro Acoustics, Audio Technology, Musical Acoustics and Music Production. 3) He's a designer and consultant of studios and small rooms for music performance or music reproduction.
Since the mid 80's, Per has been a professional recording engineer doing on-site recordings of orchestras, chamber ensembles and choirs, as well as studio recordings of jazz and world music. Per enjoys experimenting and testing new ideas in recording and mixing and since 2021 he is making most of his productions in Dolby Atmos Music. His gear includes a very flexible Ravenna-based recording system that can be adapted to virtually any recording situation.
Per has made a large number of productions for labels such as Prophone, Caprice, Naxos, Toccata Classics (UK) and Vanguard Music Boulevard and for a number of TV productions. His own records label, Footprint, has been releasing a varying number of productions every year since 2003.
Per has been teaching in acoustics and electro acoustics for many years at university level and his goal is to develop an education in audio engineering at the masters level in Sweden. He has written extensive educational material in Acoustics, Audio Technology, Music Acoustics and Electroacoustics and is teaching on a freelance basis at Chalmers, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and at the Gothenburg University.
Per had his MSc in Electrical Engineering in 1982 and a PhD in Applied Acoustics in 2003. After receiving his masters degree, Per worked as an acoustic consultant in parallel to his work as an acoustic researcher. The research work was focused on active noise control, in particular adaptive complex controllers for multichannel, harmonic control, including methods for finding optimal positions for secondary sources and sensors. His knowledge in acoustics and signal processing has been a solid foundation for his work as a recording engineer.
MSc in Electrical Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology in 1982.
PhD in Applied Acoustics/Signal Processing at Chalmers University of Technology/Blekinge University of Technology, 2003.
To meet and discuss with people from all over the World working in this fascinating field of Audio. To contribute in creating a more professional view on audio engineering in my own country, where most engineers are self made with very little (if any) education in the audio field. To follow trends and keep myself up to date with the developments within audio.
