In 2010 I finished my 41-year career as an educator and researcher on acoustics at TU Delft, The Netherlands. My specialisms were architectural acoustics and surround sound reproduction. I was strongly involved in the development and application of the Wave Field Synthesis concept.
Since 2011, I'm a part-time Guest Professor at RWTH aachen University, Germany, where I'm involved in the development of new and better methods for room acoustics modeling.
In 2009/2010, I had the pleasure and honour to be the President of the AES.
As a form of applied acoustics I play the double bass in various ensembles
In 1999, Diemer de Vries was presented with the AES Fellowship Award in recognition of his contributions to the implementation of wave field synthesis.
